ARIGATOU!
It’s been several months since I wrote about my intentions to go to Japan. For a few weeks it did not seem my trip this winter was going to materialize. I was hoping to go to Japan on my way to South Korea with work, but our destination was redirected to South Africa. But my personal plans remained unaltered. I was determined to go as a birthday celebration. And it all came together yesterday when I secured my airfare to Japan. And for a great price I might add. Thank God! I will depart on Tuesday, March 21 and return on Wednesday, March 29. It’s a little shorter than I planned at first, but it fits better with my schedule. There’s plenty to do. So back to my checklist.

- Passport
- Rail Pass
- Credit Cards

- Itinerary
- Travel Bag
- Electronics
- Pocket Wi-Fi
- Packing
- Mobile Apps
This week I need to purchase my JR Rail Pass and order a pocket WiFi device. Next will be to buy a new carry-on bag that will function as my primary luggage. Several trips back I found a great bag that made getting from one train and another and from one city to the next much easier. But I gave my bag away to my cousin who went to Japan in January of 2019 right at the outbreak of the pandemic. I learned yesterday that the bag was no longer available. Yet there are new and better choices, but figuring out the best will take time.
