『ゴジラ』の生合成で使用されたと思われる合成撮影機(*5)。飯塚定雄によれば、進八郎、渡嘉敷唯信、石井義雄らが『ゴジラ』の頃にマット画を描いていたという。渡嘉敷は、独立美術協会に所属した画家だったとのこと。なお、大戸島に初めてゴジラが出現するショットのように、合成素材が両方とも動く映像だった場合は、この装置は使用されない

A synthesis camera (*5) thought to have been used in the biosynthesis of Godzilla. According to Sadao Iizuka, Shinpachiro, Yuinobu Tokashiki, Yoshio Ishii and others were creating matte paintings around the time of Godzilla. Tokashiki is said to have been a painter who belonged to the Independent Art Association. Note that this device is not used when both composite materials are moving images, such as the shot where Godzilla appears for the first time on Oto Island.
