Day 1: Flying to Japan

11.10.2023

After more than a month, the wait was over. Early Sunday morning with the assistance of my good friend Matt I arrived at Philadelphia International Airport. I flew out of Philadelphia through Montreal to Tokyo. My flights were smooth without any hiccups. I arrived at Narita Airport about 6 pm. After picking up my pocket wifi, I was on my way to MyCube by MyStays in Asakusa. This inexpensive cube hotel has excellent accommodations and has served as my preferred stay for four trips. Before leaving the airport I checked out a cool gashapon shop and I picked up some tea from a vending machine. Since I had to transfer to the Asakusa line at Tokyo Station I stopped for sightseeing. That evening was perfect and a sign of the beautiful weather Tokyo had all week.

After settling down in my cube for the night, the Godzilla Minus One trailer greeted me on local television. The timing was perfect. It doesn’t get any better than seeing Godzilla upon arrival in Japan. From the first day, I could feel a buzz in the air as the movie release approached.

Although I was exhausted, I was excited about the days to come. I began planning for day two and the secret location I had planned to visit.
