12月15日、『ゴジラ』は公開された。9年ぶりに眠りから目覚め、スクリーンに帰ってきたのだ。平成シリーズへと続く、新時代の始まりである。

“Godzilla” was released on December 15th. I woke up from sleep for the first time in nine years and came back to the screen. It is the beginning of a new era that continues to the Heisei series.

『ゴジラ』は配給収入1億を達成、『ビルマの竪琴』に次ぐ、1985年度の邦画第2位であった。

“Godzilla” achieved a distribution income of 100 million, and was the second largest Japanese movie in 1985 after “The Burmese Harp.”

1985年の2月10日には、本作のビデオソフトが発売されている。また、川北紘一監督の構成・演出による『メイキング・オブ・「ゴジラ」』も1月30日に発売され、映画の舞台裏が公開された。

On February 10, 1985, the video software for this work was released. In addition, “Making of Godzilla” directed by Koichi Kawakita was released on January 30th, and the behind-the-scenes of the movie was released.

84年版『ゴジラ』はアメリカに輸出され、再編集されて『GODZILLA 1985』 として公開された。アメリカで独自に撮影されたパートには、一作目の『ゴジラ』の再編集版である「怪獣王ゴジラ』 (57年)に登場したレイモンド・バーが再 び出演している。

The 1984 version of “Godzilla” was exported to the United States, re-edited and released as “GODZILLA 1985.” Raymond Burr, who appeared in “Godzilla, King of the Monsters” (1957), which is a re-edited version of the first “Godzilla,” appears again in the part that was originally shot in the United States.

1985年4月には、するという大胆な企画「ゴジラストーリー募集」が発表され、ファンを驚かせた。自分がゴジラの企画に参加できるのだ。 応募総数は実に5025通となった。そしてこの中から作として選ばれ、ここからさらに4年の歳月をかけて実現した作品が本作の直接の続編『ゴジラvsビオランテ』 である。ゴジラ平成シリーズの幕開けであった。

In April 1985, the bold project “Godzilla Story Recruitment” was announced, which surprised the fans. You can participate in Godzilla’s project. The total number of applications was 5025. The work that was selected as a work from among these and was realized over the next four years is the direct sequel to this work, “Godzilla vs. Biollante.” It was the beginning of the Godzilla Heisei series.
