映画公開に向けて、大きな役割を果たしたファンクラブ
A fan club that played a major role in the release of the movie

84年6月20日に行われた本作の製作 発表と同時に、オフィシャルファンラブとなる「ゴジラクラブ」の発足が発表された。北は北海道から、南は沖 縄まで、本作を上映する全国106ヵ所の劇場で5万人の会員を募集。入会 の特典として、ゴジラクラブ限定の映画の前売券、会員証、B全ポスター、会報、LPバッグ、バッジ、第一作『ゴジラ』(3年)の試写状を多くのファンが入手した。 会報では、映画の情報だけではなく、今後開催予定のイベントの案内やスタッフインタビューな ど、多彩な内容で構成され、インター ネットが普及していなかった当時のゴジラファンにとっては貴重な情報源と なった。

At the same time as the production announcement of this work held on June 20, 1984, the launch of “Godzilla Club”, which will be the official fan love, was announced. From Hokkaido in the north to Okinawa in the south, we are recruiting 50,000 members at 106 theaters nationwide that screen this work. As a benefit of membership, many fans got advance tickets for movies limited to Godzilla clubs, membership cards, all B posters, newsletters, LP bags, badges, and previews of the first movie “Godzilla” (3 years). The newsletter consisted of not only movie information but also information on upcoming events and staff interviews, and was a valuable source of information for Godzilla fans at the time when the Internet was not widespread.

発足以降に各地で開催されるゴジラ 関連イベントに、ゴジラクラブ事務局 は全面的に協力するだけではなく、東宝が企画する映画キャンペーンの多くも事務局主導で行われた。10~12月の「ゴジラスーツ全国キャンペーン」、11~1月の「スタッフ・キャスト全国キャ ンペーン」、10~12月の「サイボットゴジラ全国キャンペーン」など。映画に出演できるエキストラ募集も事務局 が窓口になっていた。7月9日にはゴ ジラクラブ発足記念として、東京渋谷・ 東横劇場でヒカシュー、リリーズなどが出演した「ゴジラ伝説・ライブ」 コンサートが盛大に開催された。

Not only did the Godzilla Club Secretariat fully cooperate with Godzilla-related events held in various places since its inception, but many of Toho’s movie campaigns were also led by the Secretariat. “Godzilla suit national campaign” from October to December, “Staff cast national campaign” from November to January, “Cybot Godzilla national campaign” from October to December, etc. The secretariat was also the contact point for recruiting extras who could appear in movies. On July 9th, in commemoration of the establishment of Gojira Club, a grand “Godzilla Legend Live” concert was held at the Toyoko Theater in Shibuya, Tokyo, where Hikashu and Lilies appeared.

映画のヒットとファンの拡大に大き く貢献したゴジラクラブは、98年2月に 映画の公開終了とともに役目を終えた。

The Godzilla Club, which contributed significantly to the movie’s hits and fan expansion, ended its role in February 1998 with the end of the movie’s release.
