When I saw it, I had to have it. I say this a lot. But I could walk away from the chance to have another Popy Kingsaurus Godzilla but this time complete with original header card, bag, bloke and even the staple. The price was great and I got what I really wanted most, that is, the booklet and header card.
Last year, I scored the original Mattel 1979 Toy Catalog and later in the year, I found kaiju Bemustar with a header card. And with that my favorite childhood Godzilla toy felt complete. The art and photography on the header card are wonderful. Around that same time, I picked up another Popy Godzilla figure. And since that time, I was on the lookout for the corresponding booklet, which I knew would prove to be allusive and hard to come by. But miracles do happen and today I got the big treasure in the little package.

At the time of release, the Popy Godzilla was 380 yen and the Mattel Godzilla roughly $4 USD. Today they sell anywhere from $80 to $150 USD. I’ve been slowly finding the additional Godzilla figures in this line: King Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla. I would love to have the Gigan and Rodan.

I am so happy to have both this original Japanese Godzilla figure and the Mattel’s version complete with header cards, bags, booklets and staples. I feel like I’m ten years old again filled up with warming nostalgia.
