※ 巨大なゴジラの生物としての不思議さ、形態の不思議さ、生態の不思議さは、生物学の定理に則ることがない。作品同士の矛盾のみならず、映画と原作、映画と脚本との違い、作品のなかで合点のいかない疑問符は多い。そこでそれぞれの要素を折衷する試みを本書では行なった。そのひとつの表現として進化系統樹を作ってみた。作図は開田裕治による。
