※ デザインが奇抜なほど、その怪獣のモデルとなった生物を探りたくなってくる。ことにキングギドラのデザインは、伝説や神話に見られる想像上の造形ばかりでなく、東宝怪獣としてもあらゆる要素が詰った最高峰にある。またキングギドラを元に、サイボーグ化したガイガン、それをロボット化したメカゴジラと、ゴジラを核とした東宝怪獣の輪廻転生が探れてくる。キングギドラは文字通り、東宝怪獣のDNAが詰っている。作図は開田裕治。
