無敵の怪獣王ゴジラも、その戦歴が全戦全勝だったわけではない。

怪獣同士の戦いでは、まず、帯電体質化しキングコングに放射能火炎を封じられて引き分けている。

次に、幼虫モスラとの戦いでは糸に体を縛られ、動きを封じられて完敗している。対メカキングギドラ戦では、大型マジックハンドで捕らえられて、メカキングギドラとともに深海へ落とされ、続くモスラ・バトラとの戦いでは、鱗粉攻撃で放射能火炎をさえぎられたところを2大怪獣に空中へ運ばれ、バトラの犠牲で再び深海へ沈められた。

こうしてゴジラの敗戦歴を並べてみると、無敵のゴジラにも他の怪獣と同じく数々の弱点があり、特に生命源であり武器でもある核エネルギーを封じられた場合や、動きを止められて怪力をふるえなくなった場合には意外にもろいようにも思える。

ただし、ゴジラにとどめを刺すことができたのは初代ゴジラを倒したオキシジェン・デストロイヤーだけであり、それ以降は数々の敗北にもかかわらずゴジラの息の根は止まっていない。
