Everyday gets better. Today was a first and a long time coming. For many trips now I’ve missed on many Godzilla events, such as the first Tokusatsu DNA Exhibit in Nagoya, the 2016 red carpet Shin Godzilla event in Shinjuku, the recent Godzilla Week in Nagoya, this year’s Super Festival, just to name a few. Typically, I miss an event by a day or two or I just don’t know it’s going on while being in Japan. It’s so disappointing and I’ve grown accustom to it. But today, things changed. Although, I missed the planned stage events, I made it to the Godzilla Store at Ario Yao in Osaka, just three days before it ends. And it didn’t disappoint.

This event is called Godzilla Show Base in アリオ八尾, held from 6/21 – 7/7. I had been seeing tweets for several days and discovered it was in Osaka at the time I would be there. So I had to go and it was the best! Today was the first time I saw original Godzilla suits, scripts, and props in person! Below are several photos. Videos will come later. But more for the coming second issue of MyKaiju Magazine.

The Godzilla Store was well stocked with Bandai figures, books, t-shirts, posters, and a myriad of assorted items the store does best. Although there was no more scheduled events, I enjoyed the running video advertising the Godzilla movie DVDs. The rest of my day was spent shopping at Jungle and more in Osaka’s famous toy district. Tomorrow is going to get even better. It’s a special day! More to come!
