メカゴジラのデザインは井口昭彦 スーツ 造形は安丸信行と小林知己が手がけていま す。 その顔は般若を彷彿させるイメージで、 その理由は前作 『ゴジラ対メガロ』 (1973) に登場したロボット、 ジェットジャガーを手 がけたのと同じ安丸の手によるものだからが です。 スーツは頭部を除くと二分割で、ボディはロボットらしい高質感を出すため、硬質ウレタン (※バスマットに近い素材) が用いら れ、頭部は FRPで製作されています。 ちなみ に、 通常、 怪獣のスーツは表面がラテックス 製のものが大半です。 ただし、 ラテックスは 耐久性が無く、数年で劣化し、廃棄されてし まいます。今回、沖縄でメカゴジラのスーツ の展示が行われたのも、この素材による違いで現存していたからです。 ただし、 熱心なゴ ジラファンの方はお気づきのように、 今回の 展示スーツは、『ゴジラ対メカゴジラ』 のもの ではなく、続編の『メカゴジラの逆襲』 (1975) に登場したメカゴジラ2のスーツです。 ただ し、このメカゴジラ2はメカゴジラのスーツを改造(胸や腕など) して作られたもので、オリジナルであることは間違いありません。

The design of MechaGodzilla is Akihiko Iguchi, and the suit modeling is done by Nobuyuki Yasumaru and Tomoki Kobayashi. His face is an image reminiscent of Prajna, because he is the same as the robot that appeared in the previous work “Godzilla vs. Megalon” (1973), Jet Jaguar. The suit is divided into two parts except the head, and the body has a robot-like high-quality feel, so hard urethane (* a material similar to bath mat) is used for him, and the head is made of his FRP. By the way, most monster suits are usually made of latex on the surface. However, latex is not durable, deteriorates in a few years, is discarded and he does. This time, the MechaGodzilla suit was exhibited in Okinawa because it still exists due to the difference in this material. However, as enthusiastic Gojira fans have noticed, this exhibition suit is not the one of “Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla,” but the suit of MechaGodzilla 2 that appeared in the sequel “Terror of MechaGodzilla” (1975). .. However, this Mechagodzilla 2 is made by modifying the suit of Mechagodzilla (chest, arms, etc.), and there is no doubt that it is original.
