Virupaksa and Toshimitsu

▲ A copy of Kaikei’s “Virupaksa Standing Statue,” one of the Four Heavenly Kings at Kongobuji Temple in Wakayama Prefecture. If you hide the mouth and forehead, it has the same face as MosuGoji. It is unknown whether Toshimitsu admired the Nara Buddhist sculptor, but the statue looks from the inside to the outside. I am amazed at the bulging volume and the same fleshy cheeks, between the eyebrows, and chins that are seen in the masculine sculptures. As a side note, I am surprised by the same fleshy cheeks, between the eyebrows, and the chin. It looks exactly like Baragon.
