ミニチュアのサイズは、25分の1と前に書いたが、ひとつだけ例外がある。それは「国「会議事堂」だ。円谷は、ゴジラは建物を見おろす大きさにしたかった。しかし国会議事堂とうの中央塔の高さは、ゴジラよりもかなり高い。そこで、ゴジラの巨大さを表現するために、3分の1としたのだ。

The size of the miniature was written in front of 1/25, but there is only one exception. It is a national “conference hall.” Tsuburaya wanted Godzilla to look down on the building. However, the height of the central tower of the National Council is much higher than Godzilla. Therefore, it was one-third to express Godzilla’s hugeness.

本多や円谷はときどき、「映画的なウソ」という言葉を使った。「どう見せるかを考えないと映画は作れない。それが映画だよ。」ぎんぎじゅくと。銀座のヒューズの電線も国会議事堂の縮しゃく尺も、どう見せるかという「映画的なウソ」から割り出されたものだった。

Honda and Tsuburaya sometimes used the word “cinematic lie.” “I can’t make a movie without thinking about how to show it. That’s a movie.” Both Ginza’s fuse wires and the shrinks of the Parliament’s Hall were allocated from the “cinematic lie” of how to show them.

こうして作られたミニチュアの数は、ビルなどの建物が500軒、テレビ塔・高圧線鉄塔10基、船20隻、自動車18台、戦車10台、大砲10門、飛行機50機にものぼったという。

The number of miniatures made in this way was 500 buildings and other buildings, 10 TV and high-pressure line tower, 20 ships, 18 cars, 10 tanks, 10 cannons, and 50 airplanes.

ミニチュアの船を点検する美術の渡辺明右の「橘丸」は東京湾でゴジラを目撃する遊覧船。「PM2」は海上保安庁の巡視船「しきね」。大戸島の調査などに派遣される。

“Tachibana Maru” in Akira Watanabe, an art that checks miniature ships, is a pleasure boat that witness Godzilla in Tokyo Bay. “PM2” is the Japan Coast Guard patrol boat “Shikine.” Dispatched for the Odo Island’s survey.
