そしてゴジラはついに、その巨大な全身を東京湾にあらわした。機関銃部隊の一斉射撃をものともせず、ゴジラは海岸へと近づいていく。品川のハツ山橋(線路をまたぐ鉄橋)は、ありあわせのしながわやまぐんしゅう荷物を持って逃げる群衆であふれ返っていた。

And Godzilla finally revealed its huge whole body in Tokyo Bay. Defying the salvo of machine gun troops, Godzilla approaches the coast. Shinagawa’s Hatsuyama Bridge (the iron bridge that crosses the railroad tracks) was overflowing with crowds fleeing with whatever luggage they had.

やがてゴジラは品川に上陸。品川駅に迫る。巨大なゴジラと逃げまどう人々。品川駅に向かって走っていた急行列車がゴジラの足に激突して脱線、転覆する。怒ったゴジラは、列車の車両をげきとつだっせんてんぶくおこきょうふ口にくわえ、振りまわす。次に八ツ山橋に手をかけ、一気にたたきつぶす。恐怖におののく人間たち。ゴジラは何ごともなかったかのように、また海へと帰っていった。

An express train heading for Shinagawa Station collides with Godzilla’s legs, derails, and capsizes. Godzilla gets angry and swings the train car in his mouth. 対策本部は、海岸線に高さ30メートルの鉄塔を建てて鉄条網を張りめぐらせ、5万ボルトの電流を流してゴジラを感電死させる作戦を立てる。

芝浦付近に再上陸するゴジラ。高圧の電流と砲撃で立ち向かう防衛隊。鉄条網から出るスパーくるクの火花に、ゴジラはたけり狂う。すかさず発砲する防衛隊の戦車や大砲群。そのとき、ゴジラきょうれついっしゅんは背びれを白く発光させ、口から強烈な白熱光(熱線)をはき出す。すると、一瞬にして戦車はえんじょうと炎上し、鉄塔はあめ細工のように溶けて、折れ曲がってしまう。

「さようなら、みなさん!」と絶叫するアナウンサー(橘正晃)もろとも、倒れていくテレビ塔が、民家の屋根を押しつぶす。やがてゴジラは一帯を火の海にしながら、上野、浅草をめぐって隅田川を下り、かちどき橋をひっくり返して東京湾に出る。戦闘機の編隊によるロケット弾攻撃ゆうぜんをものともせず、ゴジラは悠然と海に帰っていった。

Despite the rocket attack by a formation of fighter planes, Godzilla calmly returned to the sea. Along with the announcer (Masaaki Tachibana) screaming, “Goodbye, everyone!”, the collapsed TV tower crushes the roof of a private house. Before long, Godzilla turns the whole area into a sea of fire, going around Ueno and Asakusa, going down the Sumida River, overturning the Kachidoki Bridge, and coming out to Tokyo Bay.

一夜明けると、街は大空襲後の東京か、原爆の落ちた広島のようだった。臨時収容所はどこも重傷者で満杯。廊下や階段まで、けが人であふれ返っていた。親とはぐれた子どもたち。死んだ母親を前に、泣きさけぶ少女……。

そんな惨状を見た恵美子は、芹沢との約束を破る決心をする。尾形に、芹沢が発明した「オキシジェン・デストロイヤー」という薬品の秘密を明かしてしまうのだ。それは、水中の酸素を一瞬にして破壊し、あらゆる生物を溶かしてしまう恐ろしい薬品だった。これを使えばゴジラを倒すこともできるだろう。だが世に知れれば、世界の為政者たちが、水爆と同じように強力な破壊兵器として使用するおそれがある。

Emiko, who sees such a tragedy, decides to break her promise to Serizawa. She reveals to Ogata the secret of the drug “Oxygen Destroyer” that Serizawa invented. It was a terrible chemical that instantly destroyed oxygen in water and dissolved all living things. He can use this to kill Godzilla. However, if it becomes known to the world, there is a risk that the world’s rulers will use it as a powerful weapon of destruction in the same way as the hydrogen bomb.

オキシジェン・デストロイヤーの使用を迫る尾形と恵美子。こばむ芹沢。そのとき、テレビの画面から、平和を祈る乙女たちの歌声が流れてくる。傷ついた人々。親を亡くした子どもたち‥‥‥。そしてついに芹沢は決意する。「これは決して、悪魔の手に渡してはならない設計図なんだ。」そう言って、長年の研究成果を灰にしてしまう。

Ogata and Emiko press for the use of the Oxygen Destroyer. Serizawa refuses. At that time, the singing voices of maidens praying for peace flow from the TV screen. hurt people. Children who lost their parents. Finally, Serizawa makes up his mind. “This is a blueprint that must never be handed over to the devil.”

街は焼け野原と化してしまった。もはやゴジラに対抗できるものは、オキシジェン・デストロイヤーしかなかった。芹沢博士たちを乗せた巡視船(しきね)が海上を進む。そしてガイガーカウンターがゴジラの居場所を突き止める。芹沢は尾形とともに、オキシジェン・デストロイヤーが、民家の屋根を押しつぶす。

The city has turned into a burnt field. Only the Oxygen Destroyer could compete with Godzilla. A patrol ship carrying Dr. Serizawa and others advances on the sea. A Geiger counter locates Godzilla. Serizawa and Ogata crush the roof of a private house with the Oxygen Destroyer.
