Breaking news! Headlines read, ゴジラ最新作タイトル＆主要キャストがベールを脱いだ, “Godzilla Latest Title & Main Cast Revealed.” Today official details about Toho’s newest Godzilla movie in 12 years begin to be revealed. Here’s what we know. Godzilla 2016 is the first in a series (シリーズ最新タイトル決定) called Shin-Godzilla (シン•ゴジラ)! Shin-Godzilla could mean “God,” “true/real,” or “new” (神?真?新?). This suggests we will be given the unadulterated Godzilla. Newspaper headlines declare, 史上最大最強 “The strongest ever.” It appears the King of the Monsters will be as big as the Godzilla 2014 of 108 meters.
We also learned that the lead actors will be Hiroki Hasegawa (長谷川博己, 38), co-star Takenouchi Yutaka, (竹野内, 44), and Satomi Ishihara (石原さとみ, 28) who will play the heroine. Both Satomi and Hiroki recently appeared in Shinji Higuchi’s Attack On Titan (2015).

昨年１２月に製作が発表されて以降、大きな注目を集めていた新作「ゴジラ」の主要キャストが、ついに解禁された。
同作の主人公で、ゴジラが襲撃する現代日本の政府関係者を演じるのは、公開中の映画「進撃の巨人」など話題作に引っ張りだこの長谷川。同じく政府関係者役で、日本を代表する俳優の１人、竹野内が共演する。
ヒロインの米国エージェント役は、１０月１２日スタートのフジテレビ系「５→９～私に恋したお坊さん～」（月曜後９・０）にも主演する石原が決定。まさに人気、実力を兼ね備えた豪華キャストが集まった。
製作サイドは「長谷川さんの確かな演技力が今作の柱になる」と期待。長谷川は「世界的に有名な、と言っても過言ではないゴジラ作品に、まさか自分が出演させていただけるとは」と喜び、「しっかりと自分の役割を務めたい」と気合を入れる。
竹野内は「６１年前に製作された第１作目から長い時を経て、２９作目に当たる本作は、数々のゴジラシリーズの中でも最強の仕上がりとなり、深いメッセージを与える作品になると思う」と宣言。
