Rail Pass Ordered

I am working my way through the checklist and making good progress. Today, I ordered my Japan Rail Pass and pocket WiFi. Other than the plane tickets, the rail pass is the large travel purchase I need to make. The rail pass is essential for travel in Japan because it saves hundreds to thousands of dollars required for riding the Shinkansen between major destinations such as Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, etc. A round trip to Nagoya from Tokyo is about $300 USD. Now imagine the hefty cost for a two-week trip. Without the pass travel outside of Tokyo is cost prohibitive. I will have the 7-day pass which will cover my daily travel expensive between major cities. For travel within Tokyo, I already have the Plasmo and Suica cards to charge up for subway rides. The other important purchase was the pocket WiFi which was only $40. This will give me all the connectivity needed while I travel and for blogging at night during the trip.

My Nicgid sling bag arrived and it is perfect. My iPad fits and there is plenty of space especially for coins and snacks. Yesterday, I had a big surprise when my official vaccination card arrived earlier than I expected. And not long after uploading it to the Visit Japan Web, my pre-registration for quarantine procedures was completed. I’m thankful to have these off my list. The trip is fast approaching and I’m putting together a very tight itinerary. I’m praying for no delays and a trouble-free trip.
