怪獣が生きていくうえでも、かけがえのない地球。その唯一の空間を汚す存在への怒りが、それまでにない強力な戦闘力として発露される。今回のゴジラは、さまざまな部分で、それまでにない「力」と「能力」を全人類に見せつけ、環境破壊に対する抑止力となるのである。

放射能の表現はやや青みがかっていて、『怪獣総進撃』以来のものである。吐く際の勢いを演出するためか、力強く両腕を前に突き出すようなアクションを伴うようになっている。

驚天動地の飛行能力を初公開。両腕を水平にして180℃回転、地面に向けて放射能を吐いて浮上、それを推進力として空中を高速で進む。電極板から逃げ出した飛行へドラを追って飛び、つかまえる。「怪獣大戦争」時の3分の1ギニョールで表現されたらしい。

なぜか腕を十字に組んで、ヘドリューム光線を受け止めようとする。その際に小さなスパークが弾けるがゴジラが大きなダメージを受けるよこうなことはないようだ。

決戦時は富士山で、ヘドラと組み合ったまま平地へと転がって電極板の電源となる鉄塔を破壊してしまった。このカットも、3分の1サイズのギニョールが使用されているようだ。

During the final battle on Mt. Fuji, Godzilla fell to the ground while grappling with Hedorah and destroyed the steel tower that powers the electrode plates. This cut also appears to be made using a 1/3 sized Guignol.

撮影時期は「第2次怪獣ブーム」直前だが、演じる中島にはゴジラをヒーローとして捉える意識が明確にあったようだ。微妙な擬人化が子供たちを喜ばせる手段と理解し、劇中ではストレートパンチを炸裂させている。

Although the film was filmed just before the “second monster boom,” Nakajima, who plays the character, seems to have had a clear sense of seeing Godzilla as a hero. He understands that subtle anthropomorphism is a way to please children, and in the play he delivers a straight punch.

富士市の港と工場地帯でヘドラと対決する際、強力な回転攻擊を決める。遠心力でヘドラのボディが周囲に飛び散り、工場の宿直室や「アングラ」を襲う。

When confronting Hedorah in the port and factory area of Fuji City, Godzilla decides on a powerful spinning attack. Due to centrifugal force, Hedorah’s body is scattered around, attacking the factory’s night shift room and the “underground.”

ヘドラに向かって、ジャンプキックを炸裂。これは特写時のスチールだが、この攻撃は実際の富士山麓における最終対決で行われていた。しかし、最終的にカットされてしまったため、幻の技となった。

A jump kick explodes towards Hedorah. This is a still from a special shoot, but the attack actually took place during the final confrontation at the foot of Mt. Fuji. However, as it was ultimately cut, it became a phantom technique.

研ちゃんの夢で、汚れた海に怒りを見せるゴジラ。海でのヘドラ追撃やヘドロまみれのシーンでも使用されているこのスーツは、「怪獣大戦争」のもの。「ゴジラの息子」でも、海用として活躍している。

In Ken-chan’s dream, Godzilla shows his anger at the dirty sea. This suit, which is also used in scenes such as chasing Hedorah at sea and scenes covered in sludge, is from “Invasion of Astro-Monster.” It is also used for marine purposes in “Son of Godzilla.”
