【ロサンゼルス=木村直子、後藤香代】第96回米アカデミー賞の発表・授賞式が10日(日本時間11日)、ロサンゼルスで行われ、山崎貴監督(59)の「ゴジラ-1.0 (マイナスワン)」が視覚効果賞、宮崎駿監督(83)の「君たちはどう生きるか」が長編アニメーション賞を受賞した。原子爆弾の開発を主導した科学者が主人公のクリストファー・ノーラン監督の米映画「オッペンハイマー」は作品賞、監督賞など計7部門を制した。

The American film “Oppenheimer,”directed by Christopher Nolan, whose main character is a scientist who led the development of the atomic bomb, won a total of seven categories, including Best Picture and Best Director.

米アカデミー賞での日本映画のダブル受賞は2009年に「おくりびと」が外国語映画賞、「つみきのいえ」が短編アニメーション賞を受賞して以来。授賞式に出席した山崎監督は「この場所から遠く離れた所でVFX(視覚効果)を志すみんな、ハリウッドが君たちにも挑戦権があることを証明してくれたよ」と語った。

The first double win for a Japanese film at the Academy Awards was in 2009, when “The Gift” won the Best Foreign Language Film Award. Director Yamazaki, who attended the award ceremony, said, “To all of you who aspire to work in VFX (visual effects) far from here, Hollywood has proven to you that you too have the right to take on the challenge.”
