MyKaiju Japan 2019

4.29.19

Dreams do come true. Even after 25 years of travel to Japan, going to Japan is still a dream. This year marks 25 years since my first trip to Japan back in 1994. Since then I’ve taken twenty three trips and it never gets old nor tired. I don’t take going to Japan for granted. I consider it a privilege. I’m so grateful to have Japan as my home away from home. To commemorate I’ve created a 25th anniversary logo.

Each new trip is more cherished than those before it. This year is very special because Godzilla turns 65. On my first trip in 1994 Godzilla turned forty. So this trip will center around all things Godzilla 1954. I planning to go to as many Shodai places as possible. Some are near; several are far; and few are very special. I can’t wait to share them with you.

This year’s trip will be for ten days in the hot month of July. Hopefully, there will be some Godzilla events to attend like the Godzilla Week in Nagoya taking place now. I intend to take more videos, more photos, and spend more time enjoying life in Japan as a tourist. I’m looking forward to seeing familiar faces and places. I’ve gotta make my rounds to Karuizawa, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka, and of course Tokyo. I’d love to take a weekend trip to Okinawa or Hiroshima. I’ve gotta figure that out. My trip will land in Chicago for G-Fest XXVI! Stay tuned!
