Monster modeling method (2) Die cutting

1 着ぐるみの実寸で怪獣の全身粘土原型を作る。

1 Make a full-body clay model of the monster using the actual size of the costume.

2 アルミの板で粘土原型を区切り、石膏で固める。

2 Separate the clay model with aluminum plates and harden it with plaster.

3 石膏型の内側に離型剤を塗布後、ラテックスを塗る。

3 After applying mold release agent to the inside of the plaster mold, apply latex.

4 乾燥後にはがすと、皮の表面ができあがる。

4 Peel off after drying to create a skin surface.

5 ボディラインの上にみざらしの布を巻き、皮を貼る。

5 Wrap the unbleached cloth over the body line and attach the leather.

※ ボディライン作りまでは型抜きも直づけと同様。

※ Mold cutting is the same as direct attachment until the body line is created.

※ 怪獣造形に針金を使用したのは八木兄弟だけであった。多くの場合、人型作りにはカポックやマネキンなどが使用される。

※ The Yagi brothers were the only ones who used wire to create monsters. In many cases, kapok or mannequins are used to make human figures.
