King Shisa Statues

1.14.2022

Keisuke Shimizu asked, “Comes and look at this. This one looks like one of them. You know what it is?” Saeko Kanagusuku replied, “Probably, the guardian of the Azumis. He’s called “Shisar.” There is a legend among the Azumis.” Let’s watch it together.

I think every Godzilla fan wants their own King Shisa statue. But it is a rare among collectibles. I only know of two companies that have make miniature versions: X-Plus and Iwakura (エワクラ). X-Plus packaged a beautiful version of the statue with their Toho Large Monster Series King Caesar Shonen Ric version (東宝大怪獣シリーズ 「キングシーサー(1974年版)ゴジラ対メカゴジラ」少年リック限定版). It’s highly sought after and very expense. In 2020, they release a super deformed version of the statue with their DefoReal King Caesar.

In 2006, Iwakura released a version in their “Mechagodzilla has Arrived! BOX” Shisa Statue Special effects Encyclopedia “Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla” (イワクラ メカゴジラがやってきた!BOX). It is the one of two box sets from Godzilla vs MechaGodzilla (1974) and Terror of MechaGodzilla (1975). Days ago I was fortunate enough to find one on Buyee Japan.

The Iwakura Corporation is no longer in business. Cast Co., Ltd. has take over the Iwakura products. I hope in the future more companies will manufacture King Shisa statues.
