東京都世田谷区成城の東宝映一像美術の特殊作業所から14日盗まれた映画撮影用のゴジラのゴム製縫いぐるみ(製作費500万円)写真などが、東京都西多摩郡奥多摩町川野に捨てられているのを近所の男性(五八)が発見、24日青梅署川野駐在所に届けた。警視庁はマニアの犯人が盗み出したものの、怖くな捨てたとみて捜査している。

A rubber costume of Godzilla for a movie shoot (production cost: 5 million yen) stolen from the special workshop of Toho Eiichi Visual Art in Seijo, Setagaya Ward, Tokyo on the 14th was dumped in Kawano, Okutama Town, Nishitama District, Tokyo. A neighbor (age 58 years old) found the victim and reported it to Ome Police Station’s Kawano Police Station on the 24th. The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the case, suspecting that it was stolen by a maniac, but that he threw it away out of fear.

調べによると、体長2.1Mゴジラの縫いぐるみは横に寝かされた状態で放置されていた。近くには一緒に盗まれキングギドラの首など被書品のほとんどが黒のビニール袋に入れられて捨てられていた。ゴジラは外見上はあまり傷みはなかったという。

According to the investigation, the 2.1 meter long Godzilla costume was left lying on its side. Nearby, most of the other stolen items, including King Ghidorah’s head, were placed in a black plastic bag and thrown away. It is said that Godzilla did not appear to be seriously damaged.

このゴジラは来年正月公開の映画「ゴジラ対モスラ」の撮影。5月の連休明けから撮影をスタートさせる予定だった東宝宣伝部は「ゴジラの内部のメカがどうなっているか心配だが、これで撮影スケシュールを変更しなくても済みそう」で下ろしていた。

This Godzilla was shot for the movie “Godzilla vs. Mothra” which will be released next New Year. Toho’s publicity department, which had planned to start filming after the May holidays, said, “We’re worried about what’s going on with Godzilla’s internal mechanisms, but now it looks like we won’t have to change the shooting schedule.”
