Mecha-King
Ghidorah

1.11.2025

The last few days, I’ve been surrounded by Ghidorah, the classic Bandai Giant Monster Series King Ghidorah landed and the Super 8 Ghidrah short film. But yesterday I got the best Ghidorah, the Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) Ichiban Kuji Magnuvics Mecha-King Ghidorah Figure (一番くじ『ゴジラvsキングギドラ』メカキングギドラ) over my collection from the Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya in New York City. Hands down this is the most impressive version available of this iconic Heisei cyborg. In Godzilla vs King Ghidorah (1991), Ghidorah was decapitated and defeated by Godzilla in 1992. But in 2024, the two-headed monster was fully mechanized into Mecha-King Ghidorah by Futurian Emmy Kano and sent back to 1992 for the climactic battle scene with Godzilla at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku.

Ichiban Kuji Magnuvics Mecha-King Ghidorah Figure

Under the production and direction of Master Godzilla-sculptor Yuji Sakai, Mecha-King Ghidorah appears in overwhelming size and quality with an impressive paint application and coloring. Mecha Ghidorah is a masterpiece and museum worthy. The figure reproduces the meticulous detail of its body, wings, faces, scales and tails. Ghidorah has a powerful presence and popular pose, standing at approximately 14″ tall (14H x 22.4D x 26W inches / 35.56cm x 56.9cm x 66cm), perfect for display. Assembly requires the attachment of the two wings and two tails. Handle slowly with care. The tips of the wings and tail are delicate. The wings can be challenging to insert. So heat the sockets on the back of the figure with a hair dryer. Then the wings will be easy to insert. Display in a safe location.

Ichiban Kuji Magnuvics Mecha-King Ghidorah Figure

When I unpacked Mecha-King Ghidorah, I was floored by its scale, size, quality and detail. As I assembled the figure, I can say this is the figure of the year. If you love Ghidorah, you will love this figure. Get one while you can and while Ghidorah is still affordable. You’ll love it.
