Advances in science and monsters

Mankind has gained a richer life through the ever-developing science and technology. However, on the other hand, it also brought unwanted things to the earth, such as environmental destruction and war. The symbol is the existence of monsters such as Godzilla.

The Monsters That Made By Human

The scientific technology discovered and created by humankind not only developed civilization, but also had major side effects. The undeveloped human beings obtain fire, and eventually prepare the gunpowder and release the original power. But behind the spectacular progress has been war and global pollution.

Even in the world of fiction, there are things that science has unexpectedly created. It’s a monster. The monster that destroys civilization and causes disasters to humans is the spawn of science that was born without blessing, and is the stagnation of civilization that is hated.

Godzilla awakened by a hydrogen bomb experiment. Hedorah synthesized by pollution. Biolante created with biotechnology. They are all descendants of the monsters of the Gothic novel Frankenstein or Modern Prometheus, published by Mary Shelley in 1818.

Frankenstein, a medical student who created a new life from a human corpse, is killed by the monster. Prometheus, the god of Greek mythology under the subtitle, disobeyed Zeus’ command and set fire to humankind, who was frightened by their ferocious nature. Mankind used fire to enrich its life, but they started the war as Zeus predicted. Prometheus, who was angry with Zeus, was stuck on the top of the Caucasus mountain and sentenced to live and for a vulture to devoured his internal organs.

If it is worthy to have the skills to manipulate life and control fire given by Prometheus, who is responsible for the creation of the monsters?

Side effects created by the failure of science and civilization … Monsters may be the returning point of a universal proposition that modern society, which continues to develop and progress without knowing to stay, must constantly return.

The monsters gathered in this chapter are not only the characters of the science fiction story that depicts the self-contradictory themes of “passion for science” and “disrespect for nature,” but also the darkness of civilization looking for those who atone for their sins. They are the dark inhabitants of human history who roam the face.
