今回、新発場する『サイボット•ゴジラ』は新作『ゴジラ』は東宝が ’85正月に贈る『ゴジラ』(製作•田中友幸／監督•橋本幸治／特技監督•中野昭慶)の為、特別に作られたコンピュータ仕掛のゴジラです。

サイボットとはcybernetics（ギリシア語のkubernet<舵をとる人>が語源）とロボットを合われた造語で、ある目的を果たす為に最適の作を自ら制御して動くロボットのことです。

サイボットの特徴は限りなく〝生き物〞に近い動作できることで、スケルトンの中にメカが組み込まれています。表皮は爬虫類の皮膚感を出すため新聞発のウレタンゴムを使用。重量感と本来の凶暴性を全面的に描き出します。3,000以上のパーツからなり、最新のコンピュータで制御されている、このサイボット•ゴジラは全長100m 程もあり、こういうロボットが、映画撮影の為に、作られたのは世界でも初めてのことで、そのスケールの大きさ、リアリティ溢れた迫力は、見る者全てに新たな興奮を味わせるでしょう。
The characteristic of the cybot is that it can operate as close to a “creature” as possible, and a mechanism is built into the skeleton. The epidermis uses urethane rubber from newspapers to give the skin a reptile feel. It fully depicts the feeling of weight and the original ferocity. Composed of more than 3,000 parts and controlled by the latest computer, this cybot Godzilla has a total length of about 100 m, and it is the first time in the world that such a robot was made for movie shooting. The size of the scale and the power full of reality will bring new excitement to all who see it.

❷ 眼球の動き(今までのゴジラの眼は平面でしたが、今回は立体的に丸みがあり、血脈まであります)

❹ 首が上下10度に動き、左右にも動きます。(爬虫類が、あたかも攻撃する時のような複雑な動きが可能)
❺ 口の開閉(圧力は物妻く、1トンの圧力があります)
❻ 両肩が前後に動きます。
❼ 手首、手、指が自由に動きます。
❽ 両腕の動きも自由です。
❾ 上体が上に対して10度、下に対して5度の角度で動きます。
❿ 最後に、口から熱線(炎)を吐く事も可能です。

◼物語はこう始まる！

198X年！伊豆諸島の南端にある大黒島。猛烈な暴風雨のなか、一隻の漁船が懸命の航行を続けている。近海のマグロはえなわ漁船「第3栄幸丸」77トンだ。闇につつまれた前方を見すえる奥村宏(22)の眼前に、みるみるうちにせり上がる巨大な影。稲妻のような鋭く青白閃光が断続的に走り、船は大きく揺れる。奥村ら乗組員全員、激しく板壁に叩きつけられてしまった。
198X years! Daikoku Island at the southern end of the Izu Islands. A fishing boat continues to sail hard in the midst of a severe storm. The tuna in the nearby sea is 77 tons of the longline fishing boat “3rd Eiko Maru.” In front of Hiroshi Okumura (22), who looks ahead in the darkness, a huge shadow rises in the blink of an eye. When Makigoro (27), a member of the Tohto Daily Oshima Communication Bureau, discovered the No. 3 Eiko Maru on a small yacht, the storm had passed and the sea was lit by bright sunlight. 海上保安庁から報告を受けた政府は、あまりの不可解な伏況に内閣調査室に対し正確査を指示。生物物理学者として高名な林田博士がこの任務にあたることになった。解剖結果などから、博士の心の中に不可な予感が生まれつつあるのを、誰も知らなかった。この巨大なシールースを寄生させるだけの大きさを持つ生物とは一体何か。偶然にも救助された奥村と博士は旧知の間柄だった。そして奥村が語る遭難当時の模様に博士の不安はついに現実のものとなった。ゴジラだ、ゴジラしかいない。博士の力強い証言に、政府もテクノロジーを駆使した対策本部を設置することに決定した。

30年前、ゴジラの東京上陸の際、2次災害で両親を失った林田博士。憎しみと復讐心から始めたゴジラ研究だが、今はある親みすら感じるという。

「動物にして、動物に非ず。あんな生き物はこれまでの地球の歴史に存在しなかった……しかし、ゴジラ自体は本能のままに行動するだけで、決して攻撃的ではない。不幸なのはあの巨大なからだとパワーが、時によって人間に恐しい結果をもたりしてしまうということなんだ。」奴は一体、どこから、いつ現われるのか！
