ゴジラは、大むかしから海の底にすんでいた巨大な動物だ。
Godzilla is a huge animal living in the bottom of the sea from the very beginning.

ある国が、太平洋のサンゴ礁で、水ばく実剣をおこなうたときにあらわれ、船をしずめたり、町をおそうたりして大あばれした。
A country appeared at a coral reef in the Pacific ocean, when conducting a hydrogen bomb testing, sinking a ship and attacking a town.

そのあと30年間ねむっていたが、海底火山のふん火でふたたびめをさましたのだ。
After that sleeping for 30 years, underwater volcano is awakened once again.

鋼鉄もバリバリかみくだくキバ、長さ2.5メートル

Godzilla’s Features

ゴジラは、ひじょうに巨大な動物だ。ふたんは、ふかい海の底にすんでいるが、ときどきうかびあがってきた、もうスピードで泳ぎ出す。りくにあがると、2本の足であるきはじめる。
Godzilla is a very big animal. He lived in the bottom of the ocean, but he sometimes crawl and swim with speed. On the land, he begins to walk on his pair of legs.

身長は80メートルもあるんだ。
He is 80 meters tall.

海からあらわれたゴジラ。
Godzilla appeared from the sea.

泳ぐスピードは45ノット。（やく時速83キロメートル）
Swimming speed is 45 knots. (83 kilometers per hour)

泳ぐこともできるぞ。
He can swim as well.

ゴジラの習性
Godzilla’s habits

ゴジラは、おもに夜にかつどうする夜行性動物だ。だから、くらやみでも目が見える。また、耳もよくきこえて、鳥のこえの超音波をききわけることができる。そして、ゴジラは、ものすごい大こえでほえる。
Godzilla is a nocturnal animal that primarily goes at night. So, he can see his eyes even with dark. Also, his ears can hear well, and he can understand the ultrasonic waves of bird’s voices. And Godzilla’s roar has tremendous magnitude.

耳のおくの磁性体で方向を知る。これはクジラと同じ発達のしかただ。
He knows direction with the magnetic material in his ear. This is the same development as whales.

ゴジラは肉食だ。主食はクジラだろうか？
Godzilla is carnivorous. Is his staple food whales?

背びれはウロコが変化したもので、恐竜のステゴサウルス同じだ。
His dorsal fin is a modified scale, similar to the dinosaur Stegosaurus.

水ばくにもへいきで、ぎゃくに自分のエネルギーにしてしまう。
He was fine with the bomb, and conversely he used it as his own energy.

ゴジラは完全に直立して2本足で歩く。

ゴジラの背びれは、ステゴザウルスの背びれとにている。また、2本足で歩くのは、ティラノサウルスと同じだ。これらは、同じょうなところにすんでいると同じような形体になりやすい、という進化の法則によるものではないだろうか。

北海道で発見されたエゾミカサ竜は、歯の形に海生は虫類のとくちょうが見られる。ゴジラ類が、日本近海で発達したエゾミカサ竜のなかまである可能性は大きい。

ゴジラは肉食性だ。するどいきばのはえた大きな口で、えものをとらえてたべる。
Godzilla is carnivorous. He takes his food with his big mouth.

また、ウランやプルトニウムなどの原子エネルギーをすいとうて、じぶんのエネルギーにしてしまう。しかし、原子エネルギーのちからをよわめるカドミウム弾を口のなかにうちこまれると、フラフラになっておれてしまう。
Also, the atomic energy of uranium, plutonium, etc. is converted to his own energy. However, If a cadmium bomb is swallowed in his mouth, he will be in danger.

こうして、いちどはたおれたゴジラだが、かみなりの電気ショックでふたたび動きはじめた。
