Nana-Chan Lookout!

7.26.14

If you ever visit Nagoya then you will travel through Nagoya Station. And if you go through Nagoya Station you will surely meet Nana-chan! Who is Nana-chan you ask? Nana-chan is a six-meter white woman-shaped mannequin-like ‘art installation.’ She is a popular meeting spot where you’ll find folk taking pictures of her and may be a few foreigners peaking under her dress. She’s stands in front of the Meitetsu Bus Center. Every month she appears with a new outfit. Let me just said that she’s got style. Before I left Nagoya, Nana-chan was nude with a jaw-dropping expression of the big sale going on inside. But lately she’s been a bit more scared let me say.

Something else big is going on in Nagoya and throughout Japan – the debut and release of Godzilla 2014. And Godzilla can be spotted all over. Two weeks ago my friend Sarah sent me a photo of the Godzilla display across the street at the movie theater. This week my friend Paul sent me this picture of Nana-chan! I should have known this was coming! Watch out Nana-chan! It’s Godzilla! Thanks Paul!
