Years of Godzilla book collecting have created a substantial Godzilla library that I’m proud of and thankful for. Growing up the few books I owned were treasures. Most of them were from the work of Masami Yamada, tokusatsu writer and modeler. His work is extensive and spans decades. Only until recently have I begun to realize the degree of influence his work has had. There’s no doubt his Super Diorama Theater Godzilla inspired my Godzilla toy photography decades later. But also his series of Godzilla Picture Books「小学館百科シリーズ ゴジラ ピクチャー ブックス」(Shogakukan 3.10.84) was fuel to my imagination and my motivation to study Japanese. Over the last several days, I’ve surveyed my Godzilla library to collate my collection of Masami Yamada books. I’m proud to have his work on my shelves. Below is my collection of his work.
