ゴジラシリーズに代表される怪獣映画の魅力と, 「宇宙大戦争」などの宇宙を舞台にしたSF映画のおもしろさを1本の映画にしたのが、この「怪獣大戦争」だ。舞台は木星の裏側にあるといわれる X 星。ごつごつした岩だらけの星で, 水が少ないために黄金よりも貴重な星だ。 そして, X星人はその誕生から死まで、すべて電子計算機によって決められるため、人間的な感情を持つことは許されない。X星の探検シーンでは, 宇宙ロケットPI号の3メートル近い巨大なミニチュアや, 人間の身長に合 わせた実物大のセット(写真)も作られ, 宇宙ムードを高めている。

“Invasion of Astro Monster” combines the charm of monster movies represented by the Godzilla series and the fun of science fiction movies set in space such as “Battle in Outer Space” into one movie. The stage is Planer X, which is said to be behind Jupiter. It is a rugged, rocky star that is more precious than gold due to its lack of water. And since Xiliens are determined by a computer from birth to death, they are not allowed to have human emotions. In the Planet X exploration scene, a huge miniature of the space rocket PI, which is close to 3 meters long, and a full-scale set (photo) that matches the height of a human being are also made to enhance the space mood.
