Making KiryuGoji

機龍ゴジの方向性は、手塚監督による意向。監督からの『メガギラス』版ゴジラの改修オーダーは以下の3点。①頭を小さく。②背ビレを小さく、③色を昔のものに戻す。このオーダーを元に、若狭氏がPhoto Shop上でミレゴジの画像を加工したものが、左のもので、機龍ゴジのデザイン画と呼ぶべき物になっている。監督は、ミレゴジの粘土原型時のスタイルがお気に入りだったようで、そのイメージも盛り込まれている。

The direction of KiryuGoji is determined by director Tezuka. The following three points were requested by the director to modify the “Megaguirus”version of Godzilla. ① Make his head smaller. ② Make the dorsal fin smaller, ③ Return the color to the old one. Based on this order, Mr. Wakasa processed the MireGoji image in Photoshop, and the image on the left is what can be called a KiryuGoji design image. The director seems to have been fond of MireGoji’s clay prototype style, and that image is also incorporated into the film.

Test scene during main suit delivery. It is a structure that allows improvement by linking the suit actor’s performance with the built-in gimmick. He will be played by Tsutomu Kitagawa, a JAC member who is indispensable to Wakasa Godzilla in “2000” and “x Megaguirus.”

今回は、ミレゴジ原型のイメージで、前傾姿勢だったギラゴジから直立に変更(原型自体は、前傾・直立どちらにも対応できる中間的プロポーションで造型されている)。よりスタンダードなゴジラになった印象だ。

This time, based on the image of the MireGoji prototype, the forward-leaning Giragoji posture was changed to an upright posture (the prototype itself is sculpted with intermediate proportions that can accommodate either forward leaning or upright posture). It gives the impression that it has become a more standard Godzilla.
