“Godzilla” radio drama and novel

The first Godzilla was released on November 3, 1954. However, this is not the first time that people have learned about the monster Godzilla. From July 17th to September 2nd of the same year, the radio drama “Monster Godzilla” was broadcast 11 times on Nippon Broadcasting System.

The script was written by Satoshi Tatsuno, who was the literary director of Toho at the time, and the story is almost the same as the movie. This script was arranged by detective writer Sango Nagase and finally compiled by the original author, Shigeru Kayama, and was published by a bookstore as “Monster Godzilla” in October of the same year.

In July 1955, Shimamura Publishing published “Godzilla Tokyo/Osaka”, a novelization of “Godzilla” and “Godzilla Raids “Again by Kayama for boys. Arrangements such as the appearance of a mysterious organization called “Tokyo Godzilla Team,” which reveres Godzilla, appear in the main character, a boy Shinkichi of Odo Island.
