だが、おどろくまえに、ちょっと、上のしゃしんをみてごらんださい。ビルディングというのも、しつは、こんな小さおもちゃの家なのです。(みんなさんおなじみの日本放送のポッポちゃんこと、上田みゆきさんです。)

東宝撮影所見学記

日本放送でおなじみのポッポちゃんが、ある日撮影所にいきました。そしておどろいたことには、かいぶつゴジラとすっかりなかよしになってしまったのです。
「ポッポちゃん。たいへんだ。ゴジラという大かいいぶつが、東京をあばれまわり、ビルディングでも、」テレビ塔でも、みんなメチャメチャにこわしてるんだ。

Toho Photo Studio Tour

Poppo-chan, who is familiar with Nippon Broadcasting System, went to the studio one day. And to my surprise, I was completely happy with Godzilla.

“Poppo-chan. It’s hard. A big guy called Godzilla roams Tokyo, even in the building.” Even in the TV tower, everyone is messed up.

「えーつ？ まあこわい！」
「……という映画を、今、東宝撮影所で、うつしてるんだった。」
「なーんだ。映画の話なの？」

“Eh? I’m scared!”
“… I’m moving a movie called … at Toho Photo Studio.”
“What. Is it a movie story?”

ゴジラというかいぶつは高さ六〇メートル。頭から尾の先さ二千トンもあるというから物すごい。こんな大きなものを、どうしてうつすのかしら。ポッポちゃんは東宝の撮影所に、そのかいぶつのたんけんに行きました。撮影所のステージにはいると、「ギョツ。」ぽっぽちゃんは、思わずとび上がりました。

Godzilla is 60 meters high. It’s amazing because it has 2,000 tons from the head to the tip of the tail. I wonder why such a big thing is transferred. Poppo went to the Toho studio to see the monster. When I entered the stage of the studio, “Gyo…” Poppo-chan suddenly jumped up.

There is Godzilla.

「うわあ。き、き、きみがわるい。」
“Wow. You are bad.”

こんなかわいい、ゴジラもあります。
There is also such a cute Godzilla.
キャーッ “Ekk!”

「アハハハ。これは、とくべつのプラスチャックで作った『ぬいぐるみ』でな。中に人間がはいって動くんですよ。」と、小道具係のおじさんが、いいました。

“Ahahaha. This is a” plush toy “made with a special plus chuck. Humans move inside,” said my uncle in charge of props.

これが、もけいの小さな銀座通りを、あばれまわっているところを、映画にとると、グラビアページの写真のように、まるでほんとの町を、国会議事堂ほどの高さのかいぶつが、あばれまわるように、うつるのです。

If you take a movie of this, where you are walking around the small Ginza street of the model, like the picture on the gravure page, it’s like a real town, a monster as high as the Parliament building moves around like a monster.

目には豆電球がはまり、ピカリピカリと光ります。まだこのほか、足ばかりのゴジラや、小さなかたちのゴジラ。くびばかりのもので、中に手を入れて、パクパク口を動かす仕かけになっているゴジラなど、たくさんありました。みんなそれぞれ、場面によって、ちがうの使うのだそうです。

A miniature light bulb fits in its eyes and shines brightly. In addition to this, Godzilla with only legs and Godzilla in a small shape. There were a lot of Godzilla, which had only a neck and was designed to move the mouth by putting a hand inside. It seems that everyone uses different things depending on the situation.

こんな撮影のしかたを、『特殊撮影』というのだそうです。たねあかしをすれば、「なーんだ」でしょう。でも、これが映画になると、まるで、ほんもののようにみえるのです。

It is said that this kind of shooting is called “special shooting.” If you give a testimony, it will be “What?” But when it comes to movies, it looks like a real thing.
