3月1日のビキニ環礁における米国の水爆実験により、日本の第五福竜丸をはじめとする多くの漁船が被ばくしてから8ヶ月後の1954年 (昭和29年) 11月3日、「水爆大怪獣」と銘打たれた巨大怪獣が登場する第1作 『ゴジラ』が公開され、日本人の10人に1人は観たという空前の大ヒットとなりました。 その『ゴジラ』公開から65年を迎える今年、ハリウッド版 『ゴジラキング・オブ・モンスターズ』が大ヒットする中で、ゴジラが私たちに問いかけてきたものは何だったのか? その原点に立ち返って考えるため、『ゴジラ』 第1作 (デジタルリマスター版) を大画面で上映するとともに、 同作に主演され、『銀幕に 愛を込めてぼくはゴジラの同期生』 という著書もあり少年時代の戦争体験を踏まえて平和の尊さを熱心に訴えておられる俳優の宝田明さんにご講演いただくこととなりました。 宝田さんからは、第1作 『ゴジラ』撮影当時の思い出のほか、ゴジラの発するメッセージ、ゴジラへの思いなどを存分に語っていただけるものと期待しています。

On November 3, 1954, eight months after many fishing boats, including the Daigo Fukuryu Maru, were exposed to radiation from the U.S. hydrogen bomb test at Bikini Atoll on March 1, the first movie, “Godzilla,” featuring a giant monster dubbed the “Hydrogen Bomb Giant Monster,” was released and became an unprecedented hit, with one in ten Japanese watching it. This year marks the 65th anniversary of the release of “Godzilla”, and while the Hollywood version of “Godzilla King of the Monsters” is a big hit, what was Godzilla asking us? As a result, the first Godzilla film (digitally remastered version) was screened on the big screen. With this in mind, we decided to invite Akira Takarada, an actor who passionately advocates the preciousness of peace, to give a lecture. I expect that Mr. Takarada will fully talk about his memories of the filming of the first work “Godzilla,” as well as the messages Godzilla sends out and his thoughts on Godzilla.

《物語》 長い戦争がようやく終わって9年、原水爆実験が繰り返される太平洋で、日本の漁船が相次いで沈 没し、不漁続きの大戸島が嵐の夜に壊滅一。「巨大生物に襲われた」という生存者の証言は一蹴されたものの、古生物学者山根博士を団長とする災害調査団が結成された。 そして大戸島を訪れた調査団の目前に巨大な怪獣が姿を現す。島の伝説から「ゴジラ」と名づけられた怪獣は、近代兵器をものともせずに日本に上陸、東京はふたたび焦土と化すのだった。

Nine years after the long war finally ended, in the Pacific Ocean where atomic and hydrogen bomb tests are repeated, Japanese fishing boats sink one after another, and Odo Island, which continues to have poor catches, is devastated on a stormy night. Although the survivors’ testimony that they were attacked by giant creatures was dismissed, a disaster investigation team was formed headed by paleontologist Dr. Yamane. Then, a giant monster appears in front of the investigation team who visited Odo Island. The monster named “Godzilla” from the legend of the island landed in Japan, defying modern weapons and once again turned Tokyo into a scorched earth.

1954年第6期東宝ニューフェイスとして、『かくて自由の鐘は鳴る』で デビュー。『ゴジラ」『青い山脈』『放浪記』 など、映画出演本数は130本に上る。『あげまん』『ミンボーの女』『マルタイの女』などの伊丹十三 作品にも出演。1964年『アニーよ銃をとれ』で、 ブロードウェイミュー ジカルに挑戦し、 芸術祭奨励賞を受賞。以後、 『サウンド・オブ・ミュージック』『風と共に去りぬ』『マイ・フェア・レディ』など数多くの作品の主演をこなし、 第6回紀伊國屋演劇賞、第10回ゴールデンアロー賞を受賞。2012年には自身の製作・演出・出演によるミュージカル『ファンタス ティックス』を全国公演し、平成24年度文化庁芸術祭賞大賞を受賞。日本を代表するミュージカル俳優として不動の地位を築く。近年は全国 各地で講演活動も精力的に行っており、1945年にソ連軍が侵攻してき また満州での悲惨な少年時代の体験をもとに、平和の尊さを説いている。2016年5月には、「戦後70年日本映画平和賞」を受賞する。 2019年8月16日公開のハッピーミュージカルコメディ映画 「ダンスウイズミー」 (矢口史靖監督)に出演。

In 1954, he made his debut as the 6th Toho New Face with Kakute Liberty Bell Rings. He has appeared in over 130 movies, including “Godzilla,” “Blue Mountains,” and “Wandering.” He has also appeared in Juzo Itami’s works such as Ageman, Minbo no Onna, and Martai no Onna. 1964 In “Annie Get Your Gun,” he challenged Broadway Mew’s Jikaru and won the Encouragement Prize at the Arts Festival. Since then, he has starred in numerous works such as “Sound of Music,” “Gone with the Wind,” and “My Fair Lady,” and won the 6th Kinokuniya Theater Award and the 10th Golden Arrow Award. In 2012, he performed the musical “Fantastics” produced, directed and performed by himself, and won the 2012 Agency for Cultural Affairs Arts Festival Grand Prize. He has established himself as one of Japan’s leading musical actors. In recent years, he has been actively giving lectures all over the country, and after the Soviet army invaded in 1945, he also preached the preciousness of peace based on his tragic childhood experience in Manchuria. In May 2016, he will receive the 70th Post-war Japanese Film Peace Prize. He will appear in the happy musical comedy movie “Dance with Me” (directed by Shinyasu Yaguchi) to be released on August 16, 2019.
