Introduction

第1作「ゴジラ」が製作されたのは昭和29年。黒澤明監督の代表作「七人の侍」, 木下恵介監督の代表作「二十四の瞳」などが作られた年である。日本映画80年の歴史の中で最も充実した年といえば、この昭和29年であろう。「ゴジラ」はそんな土壌の中に生まれた――。

The first work “Gojira” was produced in 1954. This is the year when Akira Kurosawa’s masterpiece, “Seven Samurai” and Kinoshita Keisuke’s masterpiece, “Twenty -Four Eyes.” The most fulfilling year in the 80th history of Japanese films would be this 1954. “Godzilla” was born in such a foundation.

その年から昭和50年まで続くゴジラシリーズ15作品の中で, ゴジラはその性格を変えていった。最初の、あくまでも憎々し く、強く、重厚に破壊を繰り返すゴジラは影を潜め、性格は温 厚になり, 人類の味方となってしまう。この路線変更は当然観 客層も変え、ゴジラは子供たちのアイドルとなり,その時代が長く続く のである。TVの怪獣など, 日本中の怪獣がそうであったように。

今回の「ゴジラ」を製作するにあたり新しく開発された技術のなかで, 何といっても目をひくのがコンピュータの完全制御で作動する身長4.8m、体重1.2tのくサイボット・ゴジラ〉である。従来のスーツメーション(ぬいぐるみによる操演)では描ききれなかった動作や表情を表現することができ, またそのリアルな皮膚感でまさに“生きている”といった感を見る者 に与える。スクリーンの中でかつて見たことのないゴジラをタップリと見せつけてくれることだろう。

製作・原案は、第1作「ゴジラ」以来, 15作品を世に送り出してきた、田中 友幸。監督は,ハード SF「さよなら「ジュピター」でデビューした新鋭, 橋 本幸治。特技監督は「ゴジラ対ヘドラ」 (昭和46年)以来ゴジラと四つに組んでいる, 中野昭慶。脚本に永原秀一, 音楽は小六禮次郎が担当している。

The production and original draft is by Tomoyuki Tanaka, who has sent 15 works to the world since the first “Godzilla.” Directed by Koji Hashimoto of the new SF “Goodbye Jupiter.” The special skill directors are Akio Nakano, which has been assembled with Godzilla since “Godzilla vs. Hedorah” (1971). Shuichi Nagahara has written in the script. The music is handled by Reijiro Kokoroku.

キャストは,ゴジラ上陸に苦悩する首相に小林桂樹, 新聞記者・牧吾郎に、映画、ドラマと進境著しい田中健, ヒロインには東宝シンデレラの沢口 靖子が「刑事物語3潮騒の詩」に続いての出演。ゴジラに最初に遭遇する学生・奥村を「雰戦燃ゆ」の俊鋭宅麻伸。ゴジラ研究の第一人者, 林田信博士を夏木陽介, 特別出演の武田鉄矢, 石坂浩二, 林家しん平、小沢栄太郎, 内藤武敏, 江本孟紀, かまやつひろしなど多彩な顔ぶれ。

The cast is Keiki Kobayashi, the Prime Minister distressed from Godzilla’s arrival, to the newspaper reporter Mako Goro, Ken Tanaka, who is remarkable in movies and dramas, and to the heroine Toho’s Cinderella Yasuko Sawaguchi, who appeared in “Karate Cop III: Song of the Sea.”

The first student Okumura, who encounters Godzilla, is Shin Takuma, from “Zerosen moyu.”
