国会議事堂を守るように並んだ4台の戦車の勇姿!怪獣映画では定番の戦車による砲撃シーンですが、この一瞬だけのシーンに登場する四式中戦車は激レア戦車。他国に比べて戦車開発に遅れをとった日本。大戦末期にようやく75mm砲を携えた中戦車の開発にとりかかるが、わずか試作が2台完成したのみ。そんな幻の試作戦車が、浜名湖に沈んでいるという地元証言により、2012年に『「幻の戦車」調査プロジェクト』が始動!これまでダイバー調査や磁気探査などが実施され、いまだ見つかってはいないのですが、まさかのゴジラ登場に注目が集まり、新たな調査へ追い風になるかも?
