8月16日、急性心不全のため東京都狛江市の自宅で死去、77歳。鹿屋市

On August 16, he died of acute heart failure at his home in Komae, Tokyo, at the age of 77.

(旧串良町)出身。葬儀は近親者で行った。

東宝撮影所に入り、岡本喜八、市川崑らの映画スタッフ、助監督など務めた。79年に映画「トラブルマン笑うと殺すゾ」で監督デビュー。代表作は平成ゴジラ』シリーズ6作目の「ゴジラにスペースゴジラ」で、鹿児島湾にゴジラを出現、上陸させた。

He joined Toho Film Studios and worked as a film staff member and assistant director for Kihachi Okamoto and Kon Ichikawa. In 1979, he made his directorial debut with the film “Trouble Man: If You Laugh, You’ll Kill Me.” His most famous work is the sixth film in the Heisei Godzilla series, “Godzilla vs. Space Godzilla,” in which Godzilla appears and lands in Kagoshima Bay.
