The first movie I worked on as an assistant director was Godzilla vs. Megalon. At that time, the main story and special effects were the same. I entered “Godzilla” right after finishing “Zero Fighter.”

Due to the busy schedule this time, there were only two groups in the second half. I worked with Team B for about two weeks. So, in a sense, I worked as an assistant director and director, which was a learning experience in many ways. I thought about how to make use of not only my own image, but Nakano-san’s image, and it would be great if such a scene could be used well in the movie.

The special effects started at 9 o’clock and usually stayed up until 9 o’clock or 10 o’clock, sometimes all night. It usually takes two hours to prepare one cut. The gimmicks, the gunpowder, the special effects, the art, the lighting, and all that, I really wish there had been more time.
