Christmas of Nostalgia

A Christmas of Nostalgia

What’s old is new again

12.24.2023

‘Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
not a kaiju was stirring, not even a computer mouse, except my fingers doing some walking through an old Sears Christmas Book remembering the good ole days. And there it is, the Super7 Shogun Warrior Godzilla sitting on my desk, like it was Christmas of 1978.

We are living through the greatest Godzilla boom in which companies like Super7 has reimagined our oldest childhood memories of growing up with Godzilla. What was old is new again. We can now relive our most cherished childhood Christmas memories and make new ones. Super7.com proudly declares, “We grew up with giant monsters, comic books, punk, science fiction, skateboarding, robots & rebellion. No one made what we wanted. So we made it ourselves.” And they have fulfilled their mission and made my dreams of Christmas past come true.

With the recent arrival of my Toho Super Shogun MechaGodzilla and Toho Super Cyborg MechaGodzilla joining my 3.75-inch Shogun Godzilla ReAction Figure and 8-inch Toho ULTIMATES! Shogun Godzilla, Super7 is having an amazing run of nostalgic products that rocketed me and collectors back to our past. I’m fortunate to still have my original Mattel Shogun Godzilla and Rodan which have survived for forty years with minimal damage but are not quite display worthy due to size and need to be kept safe. Super7s are the perfect shelf-recreations and stand-ins created with care, accuracy and authenticity that made up the stuff of my childhood memories and that of many adult Godzilla collectors.

Thank you Super7 for playing Santa Claus and for filling my 2023 Christmas with my favorite childhood memories and toys from the Godzilla boom in the late 70s. Your figures, glass drinkware, masks, puzzles, t-shirts and more have made Christmas past into Christmas present. And I’m here for it. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!
