The Amazing Attack Peter

Have you heard of Attack Peter? Have you seen his work? Most likely. Attack Peter is Peter Santa-Maria, a Miami-based artist and teacher. His artwork spans from original designs to pop culture icons. Peter has carved out a great niche by specializing in linoleum block printing. His style is beautiful, classic, and so nostalgic. His work shows off his great creativity. I love his sense of balance, layout and typography. Peter’s work is highly sought-after and difficult to get, especially his Godzilla prints.

Recently, Peter and Mondo got together to create a 3D form of his Godzilla as the first in their new Godzilla Museum line. “Mondo works with incredible artists who share our passions to create posters, soundtracks, toys, apparel, books, games and collectibles for Classics — pop culture past & present that share a rare unexpectedly vivid and timeless quality.” Together they have create a beautiful statue. And with a stroke of luck, I got my hands on my first piece of Attack Peter’s work. Here it is!

This is a handsome and well-crafted 7.5-inch vinyl and PVC statue that reflects the expertise and quality of Peter’s popular linocut posters. Godzilla’s head, eyes, skin, scales and dorsal plates are cut and etched like Peter carves his linoleum making Peter’s Big G “leap off the printed page” into 3D form. Godzilla was sculpted by Tufan Sezer. Everything is perfect about this figure, even the packaging which also provides a base etched with ゴジラ and with an Attack Peter magnetic plaque. This is the first in Mondo’s Artist Series. His Godzilla is a unique addition to Godzilla collectibles and will light up any collector’s shelf.

On Saturday’s episode of Collect All Monsters, we were honored to have Peter as a guest to discuss his Mondo statue. And to my surprise he gifted each host with an amazing set of Attack Peter Godzilla prints released exclusively in Japan. I can’t wait to get mine. Thank you so much Peter! You are amazing!
